The computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) facility was inaugurated at Siricilla post office, Karimnagar district, by Member Of Parliament Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday. According to an official statement by the SCR, the facility marks yet another step in the joint initiative of Indian Railways and Department of Posts to serve the aspirations of the public. The newly opened computerized Passenger Reservation facility will enable rail users to book their tickets from any station to any station on all the trains of Indian Railways. Since Siricilla town which does not have a rail link yet, the PRS will help booking rail reservations and travel from any convenient rail head.
The Karimnagar district is the first of its kind in the State to have two Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) engineering colleges, near Kondagattu temple shrine and Manthani mandal headquarters respectively. The JNTU Kondagattu in Jagtial division was inaugurated by then Chief Minister late Y.S Rajashekhara Reddy some three years ago. The classes for the JNTU Manthani were inaugurated on Thursday evening by Minister for Technical Education M. Venkataramana and Minister for Higher Education D. Sridhar Babu. The JNTU Mining Engineering College, is coming up in Manthani mandal headquartrers in collaboration with SCCL.
Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar has claimed that the Telangan Congress leaders have instilled confidence among the people of Telangana region about the formation of separate Telangana State by the Congress party alone. He said that the party had organised a meeting to pay homage to the Telangana martyrs and provide financial assistance to the bereaved family members in Karimnagar recently only to show our commitment for the cause of separate Telangana State. “We have not done this programme to gain political mileage as there are no elections in near future. It was aimed only to instil confidence among the bereaved families that the Congress party was committed for Telangana Statehood”, he said. Ponnam Prabhakar reminded that TRS Sircilla legislator K Taraka Rama Rao had played politics by distributing compensation of Rs. 25,000 each to the Telangana martyrs of Sircilla Assembly segment to gain mileage in the byelections.
Ponnam tells people to use BSNL services Karimnagar Member of Parliament Ponnam Prabhakar said that the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to provide wireless broad band services to Karimnagar district through wi-max technology next month. Speaking after inaugurating the BSNL 3G mobile services here on Thursday, Mr. Prabhakar said wi-max technology will be introduced in two phases.
Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar has called upon people to actively participate in the crusade to literate the womenfolk of the district under the Saakshar Bharath programme beginning from April 1 onwards. At a review meeting on Saakshar Bharath programme with the representatives of local bodies of Karimnagar revenue division here on Sunday, he said that the literacy of the women would transform entire family. The district officials have constituted the Telangana District Officers’ Welfare Association to spearhead the movement for the cause of separate Telangana statehood in Karimnagar town on Tuesday. DRDA Project Director P. Ravinder has been appointed president of the association, District Educational Officer N. Rameshwar Raju as vice- president, DSO Yakub Ali (general secretary), Joint Director (Animal Husbandry) Suresh Kumar and DWMA Project Director B. Naveen Kumar (joint secretaries) and BC Corporation Executive Director Narsinga Rao (treasurer). The association conducted ‘Ganapathi homam’ for the early creation of Telangana State.
Andhra Pradesh ministers and MPs from Telengana region on Monday thanked Congress President Sonia Gandhi for her "historic decision" initiating the process for the formation of a separate Telangana state. "We the ministers and MPs from Telengana express our sincere gratitude and thanks for your kind gesture for initiating the process for formation of Telangana state," they said in a joint letter to the Congress President. They told her that she has positively responded to the long-felt desire and aspirations of more than three crore people of the Telangana region. "On behalf of the people of Telangana, we assure you Madam, our unstinted support to the Congress and to your leadership for this historic decision", they said, assuring her that they would uphold all the values and virtues in the true spirit of Indian democracy. The signatories to the letter included 11 ministers in the Andhra Pradesh government and 14 MPs. The MPs included Ponnam Prabhakar, M Jagannadh, G Sukhender Reddy, Ghanta Vivek, Nandi Yellaiah among others. The ministers of the state government included Ponnala Lakshmaiah and J Geetha Reddy, Sudershan Reddy, Damodar Rajanarsimha, among others.
FM radio station soon Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting S. Jagathrakshakan has assured to take all measures for the opening up of the FM radio station in Karimnagar town by this year end. Responding to a memorandum submitted by Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar, the Minister stated that the FM radio station was approved in 10th plan continuing in the 11th.

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar, Peddapalli Member of Parliament G. Vivekanand and Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud have urged Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to allocate more funds for the completion of the ambitious Jagtial-Nizamabad railway line in a time-bound programme. The three MPs from Telangana met the Union Minister and submitted a memorandum in this regard, a copy of which was released to the media here on Tuesday. The MPs stated that the Peddapalli-Karimnagar-Nizamabad railway line was progressing at a snail’s pace due to poor allocation of funds.
