In early December 2024, Telangana’s Transport and BC Welfare Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, extended formal invitations to key political figures for the unveiling of the ‘Telangana Thalli’ statue at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat building. Among the invitees were former Chief Minister and BRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, and the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly.

Minister Prabhakar personally visited KCR at his farmhouse in Erravalli to deliver the invitation. During their meeting, both leaders reflected on their experiences during the Telangana statehood movement and discussed pivotal developments that led to the state’s formation. The unveiling ceremony was scheduled for December 9, 2024, at 6:05 PM, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy set to preside over the event. The government anticipated the attendance of around one lakh women from self-help groups, emphasizing the statue’s significance as a powerful symbol of Telangana’s cultural identity and pride.

The ‘Telangana Thalli’ statue is a tribute to Mother Telangana, symbolizing the state’s rich heritage, resilience, and the aspirations of its people. The installation of this statue at the Secretariat reflects the Telangana government’s commitment to honoring and preserving the cultural ethos and historical legacy of the state.
