On January 2, 2025, Telangana’s Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar conducted a thorough inspection at the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Gurukula School in Lalapet, Secunderabad. During his visit, he emphasized the importance of providing quality food to students, following the recent 40% increase in diet charges. To assess the food quality first-hand, Minister Prabhakar dined with the students, ensuring that the meals met the required standards. He also instructed school officials to follow the common menu introduced on November 1 and ensured that iron racks and beds would be provided by January 26.
The Minister further highlighted that 50% of the rent for all welfare hostels and Gurukuls in rented buildings across the state has already been paid, reaffirming the government’s commitment to student welfare. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Telangana government to improve the quality of education and living conditions in residential schools across the state.
Minister Prabhakar’s inspection is in line with a series of surprise visits conducted by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other officials in December 2024, where they also dined with students to assess the conditions directly. These actions reflect the government’s ongoing dedication to enhancing student welfare and ensuring the effective implementation of educational and welfare programs in Telangana.
