On January 2, 2025, Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar conducted a surprise inspection at the Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) in Hyderabad. During the visit, he engaged with passengers and inspected the station’s facilities, including restrooms and the canteen. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and high-quality services, Prabhakar interacted with RTC employees and urged them to maintain high standards, particularly in the food served at the canteen. He also took time to review the operations of shops within the bus station and warned vendors against selling expired or overpriced goods. The inspection was carried out alongside District Collector Anudeep Durashetti and other officials.
This visit is part of a larger initiative by the Telangana government to improve public transportation facilities and prioritize passenger well-being. Minister Prabhakar has been a strong advocate for road safety and the enhancement of services offered by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). To meet the increased travel demand during the Sankranti festival, the TSRTC launched 6,432 special buses. The minister also reassured the public that the rules allowing free travel for women would remain unchanged for these special buses, reflecting the government’s commitment to providing accessible transport for all. Furthermore, Prabhakar has proactively engaged with the public by personally experiencing the services; he recently took an unplanned journey aboard an RTC bus from Hyderabad to Mahabubnagar, speaking with passengers to gain direct feedback on their experiences. These initiatives underline the government’s dedication to enhancing public transportation infrastructure and ensuring it meets the expectations of Telangana’s citizens.
